This is actually two memes here. The first is unempathy, the unrealization that anyone else could possibly consider where they live to be "home". The second is that you should be thankful for any gift, no matter how half-hearted or bungled it is.

The question is, how do you teach people with such mindsets that they're wrong?

Oh well, maybe this + the Rove thing will finally topple the neocon's delusive reality. Seriously, what if it had been a terrorist attack, with no warning? Bush & his buddies need their feet held to the fire, and hopefully this situation will force even his party to quit giving out medals and start asking tough questions. But probably not. :-(
