Marty's Movie Reviews #91

Another double-feature! In contrast to the past two movies I've watched, I actually liked these two to the point of being positive about them.
Much to my complete and utter surprise, I liked Elf. You just can't go wrong with Bob Newhart, the most inoffensive man in show business. The plot actually stood up well to my somewhat jaded suspender of disbelief. Will Ferrel's performance was way over the top, but still failed to spoil the picture. And Ed Asner *IS* Santa Claus. James Caan could have been a little more of a bastard, after all he was supposed to be on the naughty list. Best Moment: Boy reading the reporter's Christmas wish out of Santa's book for a diamond ring and her b/f to get off his ass and commit.
Identity. Wow. Progressed from creepy film noir to horror to WTF?!? Act I: Oh no, we're all trapped in this motel. Act II: Someone is trying to kill us all! It must be...that guy...with a baseball bat shoved doen his throat? Act III: . OMGWTF we're all trapped inside this guy's HEAD!!! If you haven't seen this movie, go rent it now. Go! I'll wait.
