Ain't That a Kick in the Pants #19
Nov. 5th, 2008 06:43 amObama, holy shit.

Niggah in the white house, run fo' yo' lives white peoples!
Unfortunately, there were enough assholes to pass that marriage amendment. Great. Now we have discrimination enshrined in the state's consitutition. But that made me wonder, did this happen during the civil rights movement in the 60's? Did states pass amendments to prevent "activist" judges from saying hey, segregation is bullshit, stop it? I'm fairly sure these things can be struck down by the supreme court.
The problem with the people who support this kind of crap seems to be the delusion that human society is still operating under cromagnon rules. The whole concept of family isn't "one man + one woman" blood relation anymore. I think it's a bit ironic that it's people who run around screaming religion and spirtuality are those running around trying to cheapen human relationships to a merely physical level.
Where are the provisions for stricter criteria concerning divorce? Where are the bits screaming for children to be raised by both their mother and father? Nowhere, because protecting the "family" or "children" was never the point. It was about denying benefits to people who don't subscribe to your deluded "ideal", and that's all it was ever about. Spite.
