Nov. 13th, 2005 03:23 amChicken Little: I decided to d/l this after reading the capalert review a couple weeks ago. It was good, for a bland and inoffensive flick for children. Not really extraordinary, but a pretty original take on an old meme.
Check out the capalert review though, it's good reading. When Chicken Little gets hit by something from above, he "naturally" thought it was the sky falling on him. The Spice Girls song "Wannabe" has a finger wagged at it for being naughty. G fare? Not a chance. "We are the champions" is blasted for being a gay pride anthem which promotes the practice of homosexuality, earning the film a hit in the sexual immorality category. Wtf?!? The mind reels.
But as silly as that site is, there are parents who no doubt check it faithfully, and bar their children from seeing anything it considers offensive or unspiritual. And that's what really terrifies me.
I'm still boggling about the "We are the champions" thing.
Edit: I forgot to mention the oddest thing about this download. It had russian subtitles. That's not the odd part. The odd part is that the only things subtitled were text. You know, signs and such. None of the speech.
