Ummm #15

Slain pregnant Marine laid to rest with unborn child.

Is this standard procedure in this situation? For an unborn fetus to be buried? This just reeks of right-to-life.

I believe it was 8 months along, so it technically could have lived outside the womb if given the chance. I think that's why. But this kind of thing happens all the time.

i think it's a touchy area, but in this case she had made the choice to keep it (and was close to giving birth), at which point it was more than just a fetus to her.

Yikes. no way. and I am very right to choose. she was far enough along that it could have lived had it been born. also, besides that... a lot of families... have burials in cases where they miscarry.. (if its far enough developed .. like a baby..)

For some reason I don't get the subtext. I mean when they did her autopsy they probably removed the fetus anyway. I think that shows more progressive thinking than leaving it inside as some some kind of symbol for their bond or something.

I guess this just made me wonder if they do this in related situations, like a stillbirth. It just seems weird that a news story would focus on something like an unborn infant having a funeral.
