You Know... #59

Conservative religious groups worry that use of the vaccine may send the wrong message about premarital sex.

It bugs the fuck outta me that's even a consideration. Saving lives "sends the wrong message"?

Well, durrr, this is the culture of life we're talking about here isn't it?

If it really were "very few" people, then I hardly think a company like Merck would invest in persuading them at all. There are far too many people who will listen to Jerry Falwell or James Dobson say "this will open the door to *GASP* OMG people having SEX without having to worry about the consequences!!!" and blindly agree without a single thought. I can't even imagine Jesus saying "do as they say" about these clowns, but they do hold a lot of sway.

But people DO feel way too safe about some of the new "protections" and don't pay attention to what they DON'T protect against.

Which is relevant to the matter under discussion how? You've been reading out of the young republicans' debating handbook haven't you? :-P

It's relevant because that's what they're arguing! I'm not arguing the point, just saying what their stance is.
